Viva ViVAS

Filed under: WM Wow — daniela @ 2:33 pm

Fiona deserves to be very proud with herself after securing extensive coverage for client ViVAS, in the latest issue of Morning Advertiser. Entitled ‘Dedicated Swallowers of Fashion’, the feature explores how consumers’ drinking tastes have altered since the recession (yes, what we all feared, bubbly is on the decline…). Fiona’s insightful copy ensured that ViVAS marketing manager, Henry John’s comments appeared prominently throughout the feature. Lets drink to that!

Life begins at 50

Filed under: News of the day — holly @ 9:49 am

It was great to read in today’s press proof at last that life really does begin at 50. More exercise and a conscientious diet makes the average 50 year old healthier than someone half their age.

Filed under: News of the day — Tags: — fiona @ 10:34 am

Today’s press is awash with stories debating the merit of eating organic food after scientists found no significant difference in the vitamin and mineral content of organic and non-organic foods. The findings, which come from a survey commissioned by the FSA, concluded there was no reason to buy expensive organic food for nutritional reasons.

Tesco in trouble for price comparison ads

Filed under: Industry News,News of the day — michelle @ 1:02 pm

The ASA has said that Tesco had failed to make clear to viewers that its price comparisons were not all based on exact product matches and could therefore have misled consumers; there was also uncertainty over the number of baskets compared. Forcing Tesco to pull the ad in its current form can only be a good thing for hard up shoppers.

Undercooked pork = Hepatitis E

Filed under: News of the day — daniela @ 9:47 am

Gary Rhodes’ pork tenderloin with cabbage recipe suggest pork be cooked until it is ‘still pink and moist in the middle’. Although many chefs argue that undercooked pork tastes better, leading medical experts reveal that people who eat the meat rare, risk contracting Hepatitis E. Apparently the main culprits of transmitting the disease are pigs, with around 85 per cent being infected with the virus. So, next time you order pork, specify you would like it well done!

Fellow Glastonbury, V Festival and T in the Park lovers can enjoy music with consciences intact as Sourced Market takes up its first permanent home at London’s St Pancras International station in September. The company – which provides ethical, high-quality food – was created with the intention of improving the food offering at festivals and events. Makes a change from the usual overpriced burger and chips!

Sainsbury’s set to become one-stop shop

Filed under: News of the day — holly @ 10:38 am

Sainsbury’s began selling non-food products from its website yesterday.  The supermarket giant joins Tesco and Asda in the race to be the ultimate one stop shop.  Key here will doubtless be retaining the quality whilst branching out – if the supermarkets can do this then they may well be on to a winner.

Lemon aid

Filed under: News of the day — holly @ 9:59 am

Today’s Daily Express reported that a slice of lemon could be the next big thing in the battle against stress.  Apparently it is the lemon in a G&T that makes the drink a popular end of day choice.  I say let’s hear it for all things lemon – I may be investing in a lemon meringue pie for the end of my week, and all in the name of calm and tranquility!
